Risk assessment is a multi-step process that essential in identifying potential problems in a medical practice. It should identify and analyze potential events that may negatively impact individuals, assets, and/or the environment; and making judgments "on the tolerability of the risk on the basis of a risk analysis" while considering influencing factors. It is a term used to describe the overall process or method where you:
· Identify hazards and risk factors that have the potential to cause harm (hazard identification).
· Analyze and evaluate the risk associated with that hazard (risk analysis, and risk evaluation).
PART OF COMPLIANCE
The risk assessment component is required in a comprehensive compliance program for a medical practice that takes any federal medical insurance.
